The headquarters gathers approximately 1000 employees and is distinguished by its strong international culture (45 nationalities), which makes it a rich and stimulating place to work.About the role:You will join AXA’s Group Risk Management Property & Casualty (GRM P&C) department, focusing on technical and actuarial challenges. Within this department, you’ll be part of the Natural Catastrophe and Reinsurance team, responsible for analyzing risks, modeling reinsurance structures, and developing in-house models and tools to support the Nat CAT risk management strategy.As a senior Flood Modeler at AXA, your role will involve:

  • Leading the development and evolution of flood model assets
  • Working on flood post-event claims analytics and conducting various analyses for flood risks
  • Contributing to live CAT event response for flood risks and automation of the report
  • Engaging in research and innovation around flood modeling activities
  • Providing recurrent training and presentations on flood risk and models to AXA’s entities and various stakeholders at the Group level
  • Understanding critical issues regarding flood modeling
  • Improving current flood modeling solutions, ensuring quality and sustainability
  • Introducing new ideas to improve the flood modeling framework
  • Raising awareness among stakeholders about flood risk and modeling

The position also offers the possibility to contribute to transverse P&C risk management and various modeling activities.QualificationsSeeking a talented professional in hydrology and hydraulics with the following requirements:

  • Engineering or master’s degree in mathematics, physics, or data science
  • A PhD in relevant scientific discipline (hydraulics, hydrology) would be considered a plus
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Fluent in French and Business English (spoken and written)
  • Autonomous, proactive, and team-oriented with a research-oriented mindset
  • Strong programming and data analysis skills (Python and R)
  • Solid knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics
  • Ability to write clean and robust code
  • Proficiency in writing technical documentation
  • Experience in risk management and/or natural catastrophe modeling is a plus
  • Ability to communicate complex modeling topics to various stakeholders
