The position

By joining our team in CFO Functional Center of Excellence you will be a member of the UK EPI Environmental Operations Team supporting operations inclusive of production, drilling and well management. This team is key in delivering environmental compliance and reducing our environmental impacts.

The Operations Environmental Team supports the identification and management of environmental risks, compliance and continuous improvement for the Mariner field and Equinor operated activities, though not exclusive the Senior Environmental Engineer is required to:

  • Support operations (including Drilling & Wells) to ensure environmental compliance with company and regulatory requirements, implementing learnings as well as striving for best practice.

  • Management of permits, operational environmental risk for areas of responsibility.

  • Support the development and implementation of the environmental elements of the IMS.

  • Support management and liaison of key environmental contracted services and performance.

  • Develop and participate in environmental assurance, driving continual improvement.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with the Regulators, facilitating offshore inspections, operational updates and ongoing communications.

  • Represent Equinor in relevant industry committees and specialist forums involving legislative authorities and other oil and gas operators, sharing relevant information internally.

  • Follow company Standards, Procedures, & Policies and hold others to account to do the same.

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, i.e. engineering or scientific subject preferably environmental engineering, marine biology or environmental related or considerable technical experience in a similar role.

  • Ideally trained as a lead auditor with a track record of internal onshore / offshore audit and assurance of management systems, external audits and verifications. Experience of regulatory inspections and trained in incident investigation.

  • Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor for a UKCS offshore operator, experience of greenhouse gas monitoring and accounting is advantageous.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory regime.

  • OPITO approved BOSIET with Compressed Air EBS, MIST training, with ability to work offshore.

  • Enthusiastic and motivated to make a difference and drive improvement and compliance.

  • Well developed communication and influencing skills and be able to work effectively across the business.
