Are you ready for duty?The roleDamen Naval is currently seeking a skilled (Senior) Engineer Systems Requirements to join us on a temporary basis, focusing on capturing and managing customer requirements for a naval shipbuilding project.In this interim role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the alignment of customer wishes with project deliverables, utilizing your expertise in Requirements Management processes. Reporting to the Manager Systems Engineering and operationally to the Project Manager Engineering/ Team Leader Engineering, you’ll contribute to the establishment of clear specifications for processes and products, crucial for our engineering teams and subcontracted work packages.Key accountabilitiesAs (Senior) Engineer Requirements Management, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Capturing customer requirements using the requirements management tool (DOORS).
  • Ensuring the establishment of requirements baselines and traceable changes.
  • Analyzing, grouping, and decomposing requirements to facilitate clear functional and non-functional specifications.
  • Participating in making requirements smart, consistent, and resolving conflicting requirements.
  • Facilitating proactive communication with project colleagues to ensure requirements are well-understood and properly captured.
  • Structuring requirements for specific work packages, internally or through outsourcing/subcontracting.
  • Monitoring the development process and providing reports on requirement status to internal stakeholders.
  • Conducting systems verification activities to collect objective evidence of compliance.

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree and knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, especially in Requirements Management, with experience in DOORS considered a plus.
  • Affinity with System Engineering processes, including deriving requirements based on operational scenarios.
  • Experience or willingness to work in international development projects within a matrix organization structure.
  • Strong common sense, logical thinking, and proficiency with digital tools.
  • Strong project-based work ethic, taking ownership and responsibility for collective objectives.
  • Effective coordination and management skills in technical/engineering activities, with clear reporting abilities.
  • Excellent command of English is required; proficiency in German is highly beneficial, and Dutch mastery is advantageous.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
