You will join The NATO Infrastructure Services Centre (NISC) business area. NISC is accountable for planning and executing the full lifecycle management activities (design, transition and operations) for the identified area of responsibility. NISC provides generic, domain independent, technical functionality that enables and facilitates the operation and use of Information Technology resources.We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior Engineer (Routing and Switching) to work under the direction of the Section Head, but largely under own initiative in the Services area of NISC ID&E OPEX.NISC services (including: subject matter expertise; acquisition; project management, operations and maintenance; and, disposal) are provided in the following technical domains: Network Services (to include routing, switching and transmission services), infrastructure hosting, storage and processing, infrastructure networking, HW and SW management, databases and web platform services, as well as identity management. Services, are provided throughout the lifecycle to both internal and external customers in both static and deployable settings.For a full list of duties, please review the job descriptions on the NCI Agency career site.*Currently this position is planned to be available to commence employment from January 2025.About you:The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

  • A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 3 years post-related experience. Or exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCI Agency, that is, at least 10 years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of CISCO Routing and Switching Elements
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with the configuration and operation of HP Network Automation or equivalent network automation and orchestration systems
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with the configuration and operation of Network Monitoring and Event Management systems ideally Intermapper, Spectrum, HP Openview and Splunk
  • Minimum qualification of Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • A high level of knowledge of network, system and application level troubleshooting techniques
  • Extensive working Knowledge of OSPF and BGP to include (Multi-area architectures, BGP Confederations and Route Reflectors)
  • Extensive knowledge of implementing and operating LAN technologies (e.g. HSRP, STP, Switching, VLANs, DHCP snooping, ARP Inspection, Port-Security)
  • Extensive knowledge of implementing and operating network authentication and authorization systems and technologies (e.g. Secure ACS 5.x, 802.1x, 802.1ae MACSEC, RADIUS, TACACS+)
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
