Senior Platform Engineer: Lab Informatics PlatformsJohnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a Senior Platform Engineer. The preferred locations are near J&J lab sites in Beerse, BE; Spring House, PA; La Jolla, CA.We are looking for a deep technical, highly motivated and life science oriented technologist to join our team.The role will work with a diverse group of people that are passionate about providing grounbreaking solutions to our Discovery and Development teams, so they can design and develop novel medicines that will have maximum impact in treating unmet medical need. The larger team’s objective is to support and accelerate R&D innovation, by delivering to our R&D laboratories around the world outstanding lab informatics solutions and drive operational excellence.The platform will support many data streams for a variety of different laboratories. Operational efficiency, observability, improvement and management of change are key attributes that need to be maintained, so the platform can meet our scientists need for producing data, AI-ready.
Responsibilities:

  • Own technical platforms, provide leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, and contribute to the successful delivery of technically sound solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, business analysts and project team members to understand business requirements. Conduct detailed technical assessments and feasibility studies for proposed software solutions.
  • Analyze existing technical platforms and solutions to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the development team to design, develop, and test software solutions that meet functional and technical specifications.
  • Design and architect complex software solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability, in collaboration with the platform owner.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, using this knowledge to inform technical decision-making and propose innovations.
  • Support vendor & platform selection and assist with writing platform selection documentation (RFI/RFP)

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor or equivalent experience Software Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering
  • Proficiency in running IT platforms, preferably in a life science environment.
  • Good understanding of SDLC and related documentation for GxP and Non-GxP data system
  • Solid experience with software development tools and frameworks (e.g., Git, JIRA, Spring).
  • Experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks, Lab Information Management systems is a plus
  • Extensive experience with system integration, data exchange techniques, database concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proactive and dedicated with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Comfort working in an environment with opposing priorities, multiple partners, multi-functional teams, and evolving needs.
  • Demonstrable ability to influence, negotiate, and build collaborative partnerships, teams, and trust across functions.

Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
