Our organization:
Global Merchant & Network Services primarily focuses on the businesses that accept our cards. We bring together the businesses that manage and evolve the company’s relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express, as well as the team that runs the company’s payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.

Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) develops digital solutions that make it easy for bank partners, merchants, acquirers, etc. to connect and do business with American Express. Whether it’s through transaction processing on our modernized, high-performing Network, or through acquiring platforms that allow millions of merchants to warmly accept Amex, NAS develops products and capabilities that are imperative to our customers’ lives.
The Network Products Team is a critical part of the NAS organization, and is accountable for leading the strategy, design, development, and ongoing management of Network products, services, and capabilities. We are modernizing our payment capabilities to become a multi rail, omni channel payments ecosystem while delivering value to our merchants & partners simply, securely, and seamlessly.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Director of Debit Product Management, the Senior Manager of Debit Product Management will have the opportunity to be drive a program which is a key strategic priority for the GMNS business.
This exciting role will offer a talented product leader the opportunity to drive the future of Debit working as a program manager for a significant cross enterprise program as well as supporting wider Debit product activities. The Debit team is forward-thinking, creative, multi-functional and collaborative, working closely with partners across NAS and the wider organization:

Lead a significant multi-year program of work, providing thought leadership, direction and guidance to a wide ranging group of stakeholders and contributors to this exciting new space for American Express

Drive strategic initiatives to develop and maintain products and capabilities that support product growth

Help define the product value proposition, including the customer experience anchored in customer needs and industry insights

Work with our key strategic partners to align, develop and prioritize the Debit backlog and roadmap
-
Gather market insights to identify new opportunities for Debit capabilities relevant to Amex Debit objectives

Develop and execute on the Go to Market, including operational readiness for new solutions

Relevant experience and skills:

Program Management Experience – Superior organizational skills with the ability to autonomously manage highly complex initiatives and drive results in a fast paced, multi-partner environment with constant change.

Highly collaborative: Ability to drive collaboration, and build strong relationships with, internal and external stakeholders to deliver value beyond traditional means.

Comfortable with ambiguity – able to operate in an ambiguous environment, leaning into the unknown and bring others with you on the learning journey.

Executive communication: Outstanding communicator with the ability to distill complex topics into clear and concise messages, adapted appropriately for the audience.

Payments Experience: Background working in/with the payments industry, preferably with a focus on Debit, you will bring a knowledge of roles and models of parties involved in payments acceptance

Strategic thought leadership: Strategic and innovative mindset, with the ability to synthesize and translate market and industry trends into opportunities for AXP to drive innovative solutions.

Intellectual curiosity – High-intellectual curiosity, ‘creative and critical thinker with experience in complex problem solving and strategic thought leadership.
