Digital Chemistry & Design
Måløv, Denmark
Are you passionate about working at the interface between AI/ML and protein design and translating ideas into tangible impact in drug discovery? Would you like to use your expertise developing solutions that will change the lives of patients with obesity and other serious chronic diseases? If yes, please apply today!
Your new role
We are looking for a highly skilled (Senior) Data Scientist to support technology development within Digital Chemistry & Design (DCD). In this role, you will combine deep computational expertise with strong protein modelling and engineering capabilities to advance our next generation biologics design platforms and apply them in discovery programs that target obesity and other serious chronic diseases. Working at the interface of algorithm development, structural modelling, and biologics engineering, you will help shape our in silico strategy and translate cutting edge digital approaches into robust, scalable solutions for our discovery portfolio.
Your responsibilities include:
-Development, validation, and implementation of innovative computational methods and workflows that enable high quality design of peptides, proteins, antibodies, and other complex biologics
-Contributing to the development of our internal modelling and design platforms and relevant computational infrastructure
-Evaluating, onboarding and optimising external tools for our use cases
-Work collaboratively with your colleagues to develop machine learning models that can be used to optimise biologics candidates
-Supporting modelling scientists within the DCD area to build and apply tailored workflows for research projects
Your new department
The In Silico Biologics Discovery team within the Digital Chemistry & Design and the AI & Digital Innovation (ADI) areas at Novo Nordisk, is located in Måløv (Denmark) and London (UK). We use innovative computational tools and techniques to model and design novel biologics. Our team works collaboratively across various departments to support drug discovery projects in R&D to deliver safe and effective biologics-based therapies to patients. We value a diverse and inclusive culture, where our team members can thrive and grow. Our team consists of passionate, goal-oriented individuals who take pride in their work and are committed to making a difference in patients’ lives.
Your skills & qualifications
-PhD (or equivalent) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Protein Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience. Candidates who have recently completed a PhD are encouraged ; research during PhD/postdoc counts as experience
-Demonstrated track-record developing computational methods for proteins/biologics (e.g. protein/antibody design, property prediction, structure based design, developability assessments), evidenced by publications, preprints, patents, open-source libraries, or project outcomes
-Strong experience in ML and deep learning method development and Python programming, applied to biological problems
-Good understanding of protein sequence, structure, function, possibly in relation to therapeutics discovery and design
-Experience with protein design and data-driven ML optimisation is a plus
-Experience in usage of HPC and cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, or similar)
-Good interpersonal skills: communication, group work, goal-oriented
