At TomTom we’re seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Maps Quality and Product Insight team in Madrid. As part of the team, you will help TomTom deliver the most up-to-date, accurate and detailed maps and locations services for the hundreds of millions of drivers maps and products around the world and that will enable the future of autonomous driving.The Maps Quality and Product Insight team is focused on providing state-of-the-art data & analytics solutions that enable fast and cost-effective data-driven strategic decision making within TomTom and for our customers and partners. \nWhat you’ll do:
- Help to make location content best-in-class by advocating for and implementing changes to technology, process, tools, and systems.
- Drive strategic business decisionswith insightsobtained by manipulating large volumes of data from a variety of different sources: system logs, satellite imagery, vertical imagery, street level imagery, GPS traces, etc. individually and by fusing several combinations of these sources
- Design, develop and maintaindata processing pipelines to use these data sources individually or combinedand to predict various map features and attributes by applying statistical models/ ML / AI models
- State the quality level of our maps via statistical experiments that help us understand where we are and why, and deliver effective insights that help drive our map editing strategy
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model and system performance and data accuracy
- Collaborate with teams from diverse backgrounds (e.g., data scientists, software engineers, product managers, …) across the company and with our customers on projects and knowledge sharing
- Work in a company promoting innovative and modern technologies – Java 8/Python, Continuous Deployment (Docker, Terraform, Azure), Cloud Computing and high code quality and engineering standards
- Dedicate part of your schedule on research and development to acquire new skills, run your own experiments and individual project
What you’ll need:
- 5+ years of experience working as a Data Scientist or Software Engineer (with relevant experience in data analytics projects)
- Excellent communications skills in English
- Strong problem-solving skills
- To be team-oriented – to be able to communicate with other team members, express doubts, provide and accept constructive feedback
- To be passionate about programming and have a solid foundation of software development, and be always eager to learn and improve your skills
- Work experience in Big Data ecosystems (e.g., Spark, Databricks, …).
- Fair statistical knowledge and expertise in designing and testing experiments and drawing conclusions under uncertainty (sampling strategies, robust statistical estimation,…)
- Experience in various ML / AI techniques and frameworks
- Experience in at least one object-oriented language – Python and PySparkis a must, Scala is a plus
- Fair knowledge level on SQL/NoSQL databases
- Bachelor’s/Masters/PHD in Computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent field
Nice to have:
- Experience with Scala
- Previous Experience with working, processing and visualizing GeoSpatial Data at scale (e.g. experience with QGIS or cloud native geospatial tools)
