It protects and guarantees work conditions that respect individual dignity, while promoting a collaborative, harmonious, fair and supportive work environment.As Senior Contract Manager, you will join our Contract Department/Function, in the business line Infrastructure, conducting the following activities:

  • Oversee and manage the contract management processes post-award through to close-out on projects, in line with Saipem’s contract management practices. This includes handling claims and back charges.
  • Represent Saipem in negotiations with client and contractors, including:
  • Review and qualify (or draft) different types of contracts and agreements, including but not limited to: EPC/EPCM, transportation and installation, services contracts, as well as associated confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure and restrictive use agreements; partnership/consortium/joint venture/alliance agreements and subcontract agreements.
  • Prepare contract summaries and reports on tender/project specific basis.
  • Advise the interested Functions and Company’s Corporate Management on the main contractual risks, identifying and proposing contractual mitigation actions.
  • Participate in meetings with Clients, Partners and Subcontractors, negotiating the contractual instruments with the counterparties in the best interests of the Company and in accordance with Company risk policies.
  • Support the Procurement function in the review of subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Support the Finance structure in the review and definition of the financial instruments associated to the contracts (like bonds and other form of guarantees, including parent company guarantees).
  • Draft all related legal instruments and correspondence.
  • Perform legal research, e.g., case law affecting Company market space.
  • Have knowledge of the industry standard contracts (FIDIC, LOGIC, BIMCO, IOCs’ etc.).
  • Assist in the resolution of legal and contractual matters, in coordination with the relevant Corporate Functions.
  • Regularly report to the Company’s Corporate Management on the Contract Management activities.
  • Develop contracting strategies, oversee negotiations, contract administration, and the close-out of various types of contracts within delegated authority.
  • Provide consultative, functional, technical, and analytical support in Contract Management to project management, project controls, construction management processes, and senior leadership.
  • Report to project, department, and company senior leadership on the health of the assigned projects.

Basic Job Requirements

  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in contract management, including contract administration and supply chain management, supporting large engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPC) projects.
  • An accredited degree or global equivalent in Business, Construction Management, or Law.
  • Willingness to relocate to project offices and field locations for varying durations.
  • Proficiency in Italian (C-level).
  • Proficiency in English (C-level).
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry and EPC contract language.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Supply Chain process and contract package formation.
  • In-depth experience in work change, claims preparation, evaluation, and negotiation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, with strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing and negotiating contract terms and conditions, specifically for offshore contracts, marine construction, and modularization/fabrication of offshore structures on a lump sum, unit price, and cost reimbursable basis.
  • Advanced degree such as a Master’s in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, a Law degree (Juris Doctor), or a global equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Italian Administrative Laws for public works (“Codice degli Appalti”).
  • Strong knowledge of the Pre-Award process.
  • Experience in formulating multiple compensation structures, including but not limited to, reimbursable cost, lump sum, and unit price.
