We are seeking a Senior Clinical-Technical Specialist & Research specialist based in Vienna. In this role you will get the opportunity to make real difference in people lives. The geographical scope of the role includes the countries Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The role is mainly responsible to train clinical professionals and distributor staff on the application of Cochlear’s products and services. This includes the entire patient journey – from identification of suitable candidates for Cochlear’s hearing implants, up to implant surgery and sound processor fitting and subsequent rehabilitation. The role includes the responsibility to provide clinical and technical support for the entire range of Cochlear products, including hard- and software components, to all clinics, distributors and other B2B partners within the geographic scope of responsibility. Additional part of the role is the coordination and support of collaborative research projects and clinical trials with clinics in the region.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assessing training needs/requirements in the markets and partnering with the sales, Clinical Technical and Marketing team to ensure effective delivery to all relevant stakeholders
  • Provide on-site training about Cochlear’s products and service offering to clinic professionals and distributor staff. This includes on-site intraoperative introduction of new products, training on telemetry, EABR and ESR, NRT and CI/Osia/Baha fitting and surgical procedure.
  • Inform and support clinics and third parties in all aspects of HIS treatment path (e.g. patient selection, candidate referring, reimbursement, (re-) habilitation etc) in cooperation with regional sales manager
  • Install new software in a clinic as required or requested from the professional.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for trainings and general presentations at public events (e.g. congresses, workshops, seminars).
  • Provide superior clinical and technical support to distributors and clinical professionals: switch-ons/fittings, complex cases, intraoperative measurements (EABR/ESR, NRT), rehabilitation, and any other queries from professionals.
  • Build close co-operation and maintain regular personal contact with key distributors and customer personnel (e.g. Clinical/Technical Distributor staff, ENT Surgeons, Audiologists, Speech Therapists, Psychologists and other Health Care Professionals)
  • Responsibility for implementing and managing clinical studies and field trials within the region of scope

Essential Skills: 

  • Education: Degree in Audiology, Biomed Eng, ENT.
  • Minimum 10 years work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years Cochlear Implant experience.
  • Good audiological and clinical studies expertise.
  • IT Skills: MS Office (advanced).
  • Knowledge in project planning and project management.
  • Technical education or affinity for technique if other skills are prioritized.
  • Affinity for public health service.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • High personal standards, professionalism and strong ethical principles.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex issues (technical and clinical) in front of experts as well as for patients / candidates.
  • Ability to prevail in a dynamic, fast paced work environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Russian.
