This is a wonderful opportunity to join my client, a newly-established, sustainably-minded Multidisciplinary Consultancy, currently in the process of establishing themselves as a market-leading team of design professionals in the Water and wider Civil Engineering sectors. They are currently searching for a capable, experienced Senior Civil Engineer with demonstrable knowledge of drainage and non-infrastructure design who is willing and able to lead a team through their delivery of a number of challenging projects. You will be responsible for leading a brand new team of design engineers, based near the historical, richly-cultural Scottish Capital City of Edinburgh.

Responsibilities for the role of Senior Civil Engineer include:

– Delivering on a broad range of projects and developments

– Leading a team of Civil Engineering professionals, providing mentorship and guidance as they develop in their roles

– Overseeing a variety of aspects of engineering projects, delivering them to the highest of standards within agreed timescales and budgets

– Leading the delivery of a number of residential, commercial, and industrial projects

– Building and maintaining important professional relations with clients and other stakeholders from across the public and private sectors

– Preparing and checking technical documents, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and more

– Enforcing company policies and procedures, ensuring all colleagues consistently adhere to best practice

– Upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times

– Delivering business development strategies, acting as a trusted company representative

Required skills and experience for the role of Senior Civil Engineer include:

– A UK Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a similar, relevant discipline

– Possess Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional Body, or proactively working to attain this

– Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK consultancy setting

– Demonstrable experience of working with water-based projects

– Experience of detailed civil engineering design, particularly drainage systems and strategies

– Proficient in the use of various software packages (including Revit, AutoCAD, etc.)

– Considerable experience of preparing technical documents

– Prior experience of leading projects and/or teams

– Experience of managing client and stakeholder relations

– Good organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

– Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Senior Civil Engineer include:

– A UK Master’s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a similar, relevant discipline

– Specific experience of working with non-infrastructure projects (such as reservoirs, pumping stations, etc.)

– Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments

– Experience of Sustainable Drainage Design (SuDS)

– Experience of working in a public-facing role
