We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Business Development Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have three or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas: business development, partnerships, grant application/writing, global health, international development, or related. Additionally, it is desired for the candidate to have a proven track record of successful relationship building, innovative ways of working, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will require the successful candidate to lead business development initiatives, manage key client relationships, and drive Bluesquare’s market presence. Full professional proficiency in English and French is desired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Outreach and Relationship Building:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within target client organizations.
    • Attend international conferences, seminars, and events to expand the organization’s network and to stay up to date on industry trends.
    • Effectively pitch Bluesquare’s added value, capabilities, and presence to potential clients.
  • Market Research:

    • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients and partners and assess market shifts.
    • Analyze competitor activities and end-user demands to formulate effective business development strategies.
  • Proposal Development and Coordination:

    • Work closely with technical and financial teams to develop compelling and customized proposals, highlighting the benefits of Bluesquare’s services and solutions.
    • Ensure proposals align with proposal needs, local regulations, and Bluesquare’s objectives.
    • Coordinate the proposal process, including criteria, requirements, the writing process, and inclusion of technical inputs.
  • Sales and Lead Generation:

    • Monitor business forecasts and pipeline platforms (ex: USAID, DevAid, etc.) to scope for leads, interact with potential customers and/or consortium organizations to define offer requirements, and feed the sales funnel with qualified prospects.
    • Autonomously build strong pricing models and quotations for proposals in collaboration with technical and financial teams.
  • Client and Contact Management:

    • Manage and maintain information across the CRM tools (Odoo, Hubspot, etc.)
    • Continuously improve and/or innovate client and/or contact management processes based on internal and external feedback.
  • Strategic Alignment:

    • Align with operations and technical teams across the company to leverage new business opportunities to continuously adapt the business development and marketing strategies.
    • Own the alignment/relationships with Country Leads and define/improve localized business development processes.
    • Manage and contribute to the creation of strategic documents for internal and external use (ex: country capacity statements, organizational capacities, past project references,etc.).
  • Product Sales Offering:

    • Participate in building and enhancing our new product sales offering/revenue stream

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Global Health or a related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in business development or a similar role.
  • Entrepreneurial problem-solver with an independent and business-oriented mindset.
  • Confident communicator in both English and French.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with a remote team.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Slack, Google Suite, Odoo (or alternate CRMs), Hubspot, Teams, Sharepoint, and Jira.
  • Team player who can easily adapt to new and/or competing priorities.
  • Customer/client-focused with a respect for diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to autonomously gather relevant information on customers, opportunities, partners, and country context while applying critical thinking to meet various demands.
  • Displays professionalism and ethical behavior in all workplace interactions.
  • Preferred: Existing industry network to generate leads and establish a pipeline, exposure to public funding mechanisms (USAID, FCDO, EU, Enabel, etc.)
