Offer DescriptionOpen call for senior assistant position in research and teaching at the Institute of Musicology, University of Warsaw one full time position starting from 1.02.2025Where to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Arts Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsThe call is open for all the applicants’ meeting requirements of the Law on Higher Education of 20 July 2018 (Jurnal of Laws of 2023, item 742 as amended) and the Statute of the Warsaw University (§ 122, no. 1).Eligibility criteria: PhD degree in the humanities or artsRequirements: * Achievements in the field of research on music of the second half of the 20th century and the 21st century, with particular emphasis on popular music in its broadest sense, confirmed by significant publications (including at least two published in the so-called scored journals or publishing houses listed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education);

  • An interest in digital humanities and a willingness to develop further in this direction in research and teaching;
  • Participation in research projects or projects to promote research or artistic projects;
  • Active participation in scientific conferences;
  • A plan for further research activity related to 20th and 21st century popular music and/or contemporary music culture and digital humanities;
  • Experience in teaching in the field of musicology or music theory;
  • Knowledge of the Polish language sufficient to conduct teaching and at least one foreign language (including English), at an advanced level;

A scientific discipline in which an academic teacher is to conduct research:art sciences in the field of musicology.Specific RequirementsPrimary responsibilites: * In the research area:

  • conducting research on popular music of the 20th and 21st centuries and publishing the results of the research in publications relevant to the evaluation of the quality of scholarly activity in the discipline of art sciences;
  • submission for publication of at least two articles/chapters in a publication/journal relevant to the evaluation of scholarly activity in the discipline of art sciences;
  • implementation of a plan for scholarly development in the field of digital humanities.
  • submitting an application for funding a research project to an institution that grants funding from public funds by way of a competition (does not apply to persons managing similar projects, the implementation time of which covers more than half of the employment period).

2. In the teaching area: conducting academic teaching in the obligatory number of hours of study (210 hours per year), in particular classes on popular music of the 20th and 21st centuries, the history of 20th and 21st century music, the propaedeutics of musicology, the principles of music theory (taking into account the specificity of popular music).3.
