Information about the positionAs an Analytics Engineer in Buyer Intelligence, you will become part of the Buyer domain with a mission to improve our search engines, product categories, discovery channels, and listing journeys. You will leverage the content of our connected international markets to create the most efficient recommendation systems for buyers. You will join a small group of Analytics Engineers in our Intelligence Team and the company-wide Analytics Engineers guild. Your focus will be on ensuring that we have the necessary high-quality data readily available in a future-proof manner.Buyer Intelligence is the data analytics and science hub for the domain. The team is composed of decision scientists and analytics engineers who support different teams in the Buyer domain with data insights, research, and data products. These efforts enable faster experimentation and product development. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-changing environment, is willing to switch contexts by contributing to the domain’s goals and projects based on priorities, and is passionate about the product we are building together.Within Data Science & Analytics (DSA) we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similarly sized business impact in different ways and therefore our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To understand your role within DSA context better, here are brief descriptions of each role we have in the department:
- Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation – translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.
- Decision Scientists are responsible for actionable insights, identifying and sizing opportunities, and automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision making.
- Data Scientists are responsible for identification of algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and design, development and maintenance of production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.
In this position, you’ll:
- Build and maintain efficient & reliable data models and pipelines for both external and internal data, in partnership with data engineering
- Continuously collaborate with data and business stakeholders within the company to collect data needs and translate these into functioning pipelines and data models
- Ensure our colleagues can optimally use the data models by driving optimisation, documentation, training, and monitoring of best practices
- Perform root cause analysis in case of issues in data production processes
- Contribute to other company-wide analytics engineering projects and initiatives
About you
- Experience as an Analytics Engineer, ETL Developer, Data Analyst/Scientist, Data Engineer, or in a similar data role
- Proficient in SQL, with the ability to write code that is easy to understand, simple to troubleshoot, and highly performant
- Working experience in another programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala)
- Familiarity with data modelling, data access, and data storage techniques
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships with various teams across the business and translate business needs into technical solutions
- Attention to detail
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Advantage: Working experience in a cloud environment, such as Google Cloud Platform
