Senior Accountant in Antwerp, Belgium

C.H. Robinson is currently seeking several Senior Accountants to support our team in Antwerp.

As Senior Accountant, you will proactively deliver accurate, relevant, and timely financial information to C.H. Robinson’s various stakeholders. You will assist with the financial reporting process, perform financial analysis, and play a critical role in the preparation of monthly financial statements. Additionally, you will also be responsible for general ledger accounts and will take ownership of assigned departmental focus areas and/or projects.

This role demands effective communication skills, a strong attention to detail and a solution-oriented approach to tackle roadblocks and ensure operational excellence and a commitment to best practice. In this role, you will continuously improve accounting operations while maintaining effective internal controls.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understand and apply accounting principles and policies and stays up to date with changes

  • Prepare and review account reconciliations in month end closing process

  • Prepare complex journal entries for the monthly financial statement close

  • Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis and report on variances

  • Support, document, monitor, and execute internal control

  • Assist with external audit requests

  • Prepare reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization’s financial position

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly financial statement close schedule

  • Analyze accounting procedures, processes, and tasks, recommending and executing improvements with the aim of reducing redundancy, building efficiency, and increasing productivity, while ensuring compliance with company financial policies

  • Assist with completion of quarterly and annual regulatory filings

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)

Preferred:

  • Experience with Oracle Financials Cloud and other cloud-based Oracle solutions

  • Experience with MS Access and SQL

  • Experience with business process optimization in an accounting environment

  • CPA, CMA, or relevant professional certification (active or inactive, from any jurisdiction)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Accountability to protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives while taking accountability for work product

  • Ability to work within a team and liaise well across departments and functions
