Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Parma, Italy. This role is key to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial information. As a Senior Accountant at Fortna, you will play a key part in our day-to-day finance activities, ensuring that our financial reports are accurate and timely while supporting our broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process daily entries into our accounting systems.
  • Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries.
  • Support the monthly closing process and intercompany consolidations.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Review and process employee expense reports and credit card statements.
  • Manage VAT/Tax returns and oversee periodic and annual tax obligations.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, with proper recording of payroll transactions.
  • Contribute to month-end close activities and preparation of financial reports.
  • Review and develop internal control procedures to maintain strong financial governance.
  • Manage fixed assets and perform intercompany reconciliations, aligning with subsidiaries on transactions.
  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of our accounting tools and processes.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in general accounting.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in using general business software and accounting tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and reconcile complex accounts.
  • Experience with general ledger management, including balance sheet reconciliations and income statement reviews.
  • A team-player attitude with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (At least a conversational level).

The team is based in Parma and we meet in the office 3 days per week. The rest of the days, we work form home.
