SEN Support Assistant
Location: Birmingham
Duration: Full-Time, Ongoing
Salary: £95 – £105 per dayThe School/Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing school community in Birmingham. This full-time role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to a tailored and supportive learning environment.
Key Duties

  • Individualised Support: Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, adapting learning materials to meet their needs.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in managing and supporting positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Learning Environment: Create a safe and stimulating learning environment that promotes students’ academic and personal development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to implement and review individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and carers about student progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable

  • Relevant qualifications in SEN support
  • Experience with specific SEN programmes or tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school-based references
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service or willingness to obtain a new enhanced DBS
