SEMH Teaching Assistant – DentonTeaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Denton. This full-time position begins in October and continues until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of the role being made permanent depending on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 – £500 per week.Role Overview:As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health. Your responsibilities will include:Individualized Support: Working closely with students who have SEMH needs, providing tailored support to help them engage with their education. This includes one-on-one assistance and small group work, focusing on helping students develop coping strategies and positive behaviors.Behavioural Management: Assisting in managing classroom behavior by implementing specific strategies and interventions that cater to students with SEMH needs. You will help create a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting emotional well-being and resilience.Emotional and Social Development: Supporting the emotional and social development of students by encouraging positive interactions and helping them build self-esteem and confidence. Your role will involve mentoring and guiding students through their challenges, fostering a sense of belonging and security.Collaboration with Staff: Working closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff to ensure that the needs of students with SEMH are met. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of tailored learning programs and support plans.Monitoring Progress: Keeping detailed records of student progress and behavior, providing regular feedback to teachers and other staff members. Your observations and insights will be essential in tracking the effectiveness of interventions and making adjustments as needed.Pastoral Care: Offering pastoral support to students, helping them navigate any personal challenges they may face. You will be a key figure in ensuring that students feel supported, both emotionally and academically.Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH and a commitment to supporting their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a positive approach to working with students who may display challenging behaviors.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow the guidance of teaching and support staff.
