SEMH Teaching Assistant Needed in StockportTeaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Stockport. This is a full-time position starting ASAP, continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.Role Overview:As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your primary focus will be to help these students engage with their education, manage their emotions, and develop positive relationships within the school environment. Key responsibilities include:Student Support: Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to access the curriculum and develop coping strategies. You will work closely with these students to understand their individual challenges and provide targeted interventions to help them succeed academically and socially.Behavior Management: Assisting in the implementation of behavior management plans and strategies designed to support students with SEMH needs. You will help students to manage their behavior and emotions in a constructive manner, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment for all.Pastoral Care: Offering emotional and pastoral support to students, acting as a trusted adult they can turn to in times of need. You will be a key figure in helping students develop resilience, self-esteem, and confidence.Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other support staff to ensure that all students with SEMH needs receive the appropriate level of support. You will contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
Monitoring and Reporting: Keeping detailed records of students’ progress, behavior, and any interventions used. You will regularly report on the effectiveness of support strategies and adjust them as necessary to meet the students’ evolving needs.Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to ensure they are accessible to students with SEMH needs. You will help to create an inclusive environment where every student can participate fully in their education.Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate support to students in crisis situations, using de-escalation techniques and working with the school’s pastoral team to manage challenging behaviors safely and effectively.Requirements:Benefits:
