Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Responsibilities Processes the full range of security investigations and clearances. Reviews and analyzes results of investigations. Coordinates security requirements for individuals affiliated with US Army as military or civilian employee, contractor or consultant. Recommends appropriate action when derogatory information is surfaced on individuals with access to classified information. Researches and interprets organization’s regulations, locate specific guidance, and apply them to determine appropriate courses of action. Identifies, analyzes, evaluates and recommends solutions for procedural inconsistencies/discrepancies among guidelines for personnel security for serviced activities. Understands commonly applied security principles, concepts and methodologies to independently complete assignments. Coordinates with security managers at other locations to verify or clarify information pertinent to security clearances or interpretation of guidelines. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing assistance with the administration, implementation and enforcement of a Personnel Security (PERSEC) program; also includes experience resolving daily and non-routine PERSEC issues. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09). OR A Ph.D or equivalent Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. Permanent employees who apply, are selected for, and ultimately accept this position will converted to a term appointment. Term positions in DCIPS may be extended up to a maximum of five years. This position may be converted to permanent without further competition after completion of two years of continuous service in this position.
