Scientist R&D (f/m/x)

SAN Vet is the animal health branch of SAN Group. As a globally operating business we contribute to sustainable animal protein production by providing high tech and essential solutions in the areas of biosecurity, veterinary diagnostics, vaccines, in-vitro PCR diagnostica, and pharmaceuticals. Through innovative in-house research and development as well as partnerships with external institutions and universities, we continuously expand in new markets. SAN Vet consists of the brands ANICON®, ANIVAC®, KYLT®, and SANPHAR®.

These are the tasks we trust in you:

• Development and optimization of real-time PCR tests for diagnostic applications using bioinformatics tools and software
• Planning and leading research projects at various stages of the product development process (design, testing, optimization, validation) in close collaboration with different business units
• Implementation of new molecular biology techniques and methods to further develop the portfolio
• Development and supervision of a team of technical staff and students
• Staying current with scientific developments in this field through literature and conferences

To grow in this position, it requires the following:

• A degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a comparable field
• Several years of solid experience in developing, conducting, and validating real-time PCR tests or related molecular diagnostic tools in a research or industrial setting
• Extensive lab experience with nucleic acids (DNA/RNA extraction and quantification)
• Experience in the veterinary or human diagnostic field is an advantage
• Additional experience in PoC (point-of-care) solutions based on nucleic acid quantification is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to plan and execute complex projects independently
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• We gladly require your services for 40 hours per week with a permanent contract
• This position is available immediately, but we’re happy to consider your notice period or preferred start date
