The Centre for Market Insights of the Amsterdam University of Applied Science is offering a position as a scientific programmer.The project
The project is part of the larger LESSEN project (see: ) that is fully funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) consists of 14 PhD projects and a postdoc. The focus in the project is on lesser resourced tasks, domains, and scenarios. Scientific challenges of the project are (i) the development of neural architectures that are compute and resource efficient; (ii) domain adaptation and data augmentation; and (iii) safety, privacy, and transparency.
You will take up a central position to integrate the knowledge output of the various PhD projects and disseminate knowledge and research output across members of the consortium, and to interested parties outside of the consortium.Do you want to know if this job is right for you?

  • integrating primary academic outputs that consists of algorithms and models as described in (open access) papers published in top level conferences and journals into prototypes;
  • realizing joint development of an annual demonstrator for pilots validated in a relevant environment with partners;
  • organizing knowledge transfer activities through regular meetups and tutorials within and outside the consortium that build on the knowledge being developed by the PhD students within the consortium;
  • reporting in annual consortium-wide stakeholder sessions aimed at translating LESSEN’s advances to LESSEN’s stakeholders and the broader Dutch community interested in deploying chat-based conversational agents;
  • Becoming an active participant in the Dutch research community and collaborate within and outside the Centre for Market Insights in proliferating knowledge from LESSEN;
  • Publishing and presenting work regularly at international conferences, workshops, and journals.

Your other perks

  • A gross monthly salary between € 4.361,31 and € 6.114,87 (Hay profile projectmanager 3, scale 11 of the higher education collective labour agreement), with a full-time appointment and depends on education and experience.
  • An end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary.

You also possess:

  • a PhD degree in computer science with an affinity in machine learning, prototyping, and system integration;
  • a good collaborative and interpersonal skill to disseminate, transform, and share academic and technical knowledge into practical applications;
  • Ideally, you are experienced to write code in python and modern ML and deep learning packages such as PyTorch;
  • You have mastery of academic English language and professional proficiency of oral and written Dutch language.
