Scientific consultant on Sustainability and Innovation FundingROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESAs sustainability and innovation funding consultant, you act as scientific expert. You support our clients in complex technical and valorisation issues, with a specific focus on projects on sustainable topics including renewable energy, circularity and green business processes. You assist our clients in obtaining and following up public funding (European and Belgian grants) to support their sustainable innovation projects.You ensure that your clients’ ideas can be turned into reality and have the following responsibilities:
- Funding detection: you identify potential grants and match the technical and economic characteristics of the project with the grant conditions, with specific focus on projects that are in line with Belgian and European objectives on energy transition (e.g. RePowerEU or the Belgian Hydrogen Strategy).
- Co-financing Opportunity: you closely follow the evolution of policy-making around sustainable developments and renewable energy in Belgium and Europe and inform your clients about new co-financing opportunities
- Problem solving: you analyse the technological challenges within the project and develop work programmes to solve these challenges.
- Writing: you draw up well-founded technical-scientific dossiers and project applications for research, development and investment projects that focus on the sustainable transition of society, at Belgian/Regional (For Brussels, the Flemish region & the Walloon region) and European level.
- Client Management: you maintain a high-quality relationship with your clients and build a network of companies, research institutes and governments committed to sustainable innovation.
- Process efficiency & Reporting: you monitor the progress of the approved subsidised projects and support the clients in reporting during and after the project.
PROFILE
- You have a passion for sustainable development and innovation.
- You have a scientific master’s or doctoral degree, e.g. industrial/civil/bio-engineering or exact sciences (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, mathematics).
- You are fluent in English and in either Dutch or French.
- You have a broad field of interest and a curious mindset. (Non-)professional experience related to sustainable innovation and/or renewable energy is a plus.
- You are client focused; you have great writing skills and interpersonal skills allowing you to adapt in a technical environment interacting with senior-level executives.
- You feel completely at home in a scientific environment.
- You are rigorous and methodical with a strong capacity for analysis and synthesis
- You are creative and pragmatic and like to think out-of-the-box.
