Salary: £30,000 – £46,525 (in line with PayScale)Overview:Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher for a full-time position at an Ofsted Good, diverse secondary school in Audenshaw, renowned for its excellent reputation. This role starts in September and covers the full academic year, with the possibility of the position becoming permanent based on performance.Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging science lessons that cover key concepts in biology, chemistry, and physics. Ensure lessons are in line with the national curriculum and cater to the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess students’ understanding and progress in science. Provide constructive feedback and tailored support to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their scientific skills.
  • Laboratory Management: Plan and supervise practical experiments and laboratory work, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that enhance students’ understanding of scientific principles.
  • Classroom Management: Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and a love for science. Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Resource Development: Create and utilize a variety of teaching materials and resources to make science lessons interactive and relevant. Employ technology and multimedia tools to support learning and engagement.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Organize and lead science-related extracurricular activities, clubs, or events, providing students with additional opportunities to explore and enjoy the subject.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in science education and integrate innovative teaching methods into the classroom. Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the school and Teaching Personnel.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support students’ academic and personal development. Contribute to departmental meetings and school initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in a science-related field.
  • Proven experience teaching science at the secondary school level, with a strong grasp of curriculum requirements and assessment methods.
  • Excellent organizational and classroom management skills, capable of creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and supporting student needs.
  • Passion for science education and the ability to inspire students to explore and excel in the subject.
  • Ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subject.
