Full time fixed term contract for 9 months (with potential for extension)

We have an exciting opportunity available to join our Science and Monitoring team as a Science
Projects Assistant. This post is based at BCT’s main office in Battersea, London.

The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) is proud to be the leading UK charity devoted solely to the
conservation of bats and their habitats. Through education, collaborative action and scientific
research, we inspire individuals and organisations to value and speak out for bats.

At BCT, we are in the process of expanding our passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) projects.
Current citizen science projects we are running now include NightWatch and British Bat Survey
(BBatS) and the plan is to integrate these projects into The National Bat Monitoring Programme
(NBMP) in the future. The NBMP is a world-leading citizen science programme which produces
population trends for British bat species. This information is used by Government and
conservation bodies to inform evidence needs, address policy questions and provide metrics of
bat population status, change and distribution.

We are looking for a motivated Science Projects Assistant with a keen eye for detail to help
manage our expanding PAM projects. You will have excellent data management skills and the
ability to work well in a team. You will be helping to run citizen science surveys, recruit
volunteers, manage distribution of equipment to volunteers. A large part of your role will also
be downloading data from acoustic sensors and organising and uploading that data into our
cloud-based classification system.

Why work for us?

We offer an excellent staff benefits package which includes a 4% employer pension contribution,
Employee Assistance Programme, flexible working, time and support to undertake professional
development, and 25 days annual leave per year in addition to public holidays.

The Bat Conservation Trust is a welcoming and inclusive organisation. We believe our work will be
stronger with greater diversity and welcome applications from those who bring difference. We
are committed to building a working environment in which all individuals are free from
discrimination and in which opportunities are equal to all.
