By joining our team, you will have the chance to contribute to one of the most successful investment banking businesses globally.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?An opportunity to work in a leading European M&A advisory team at a global financial institution, being part of transformational deals for large companies and global financial investors.Support Santander in originating and executing Merger & Acquisitions opportunities.As an M&A associate you will support the team with research analysis, sector and company presentations, financial analysis, build complex financial models, perform valuation exercises using different methods, participate in client meetings, etc.It will be required to demonstrate a deep knowledge of M&A projects or similar processes such as capital markets or structure finance transactions (i.e. ECM, LBO, PF, etc.). Any previous experience in advanced business modelling, valuation, preparation of information memoranda and due diligence documents will be highly valued.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOREXPERIENCEWe are aiming to hire analysts and associates for our European M&A team based in Madrid.Thus, a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience is required in advisory in a leading investment bank, M&A boutique, private equity, leverage finance house or Big 4 accounting firm.EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree from a top-tier business/engineering university as well as a strong academic performance.
- MBA candidates will also be considered for associate roles.
Desirable
- Masters Degree in Corporate Finance.
- CFA Charterholder
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Solid financial modelling and valuation skills: ability to build detailed financial models, analyze impact of proposed transactions on capital structures, perform sensitivities to key business drivers, ability to carry out business valuations applying different approaches, etc. [These skills may be tested as part of the selection process].
- Transactional/deal background focused on execution (i.e., participated in the project management / coordination of deals timely and properly).
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required (ability to interact with global clients on a recurrent basis). Other languages are a plus.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office with strong focus in MS Excel (financial modelling) and MS PowerPoint. User level of Bloomberg, Factset, Refinitiv, Mergermarket and other similar market data tools.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Commitment, rigorous and detail-oriented attitude.
- Excellent communication skills (ability to effectively convey complex ideas, both verbal and written).
- Autonomy and self-responsibility (ability to perform tasks individually and as a team member).
- Self-initiative and motivation.
- Professional maturity and background to interact directly with clients.
- Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously and to assign priorities under challenging timetables and short deadlines.
