UL Solutions is seeking a passionate and strategic leader to lead the sales function of Engineered Materials. Reporting directly to the Engineered Materials Vice President, General Manager, this person will be accountable for core business growth (Wire and Cable, Materials, and Plastics) and accelerating revenue growth driven by three mega-trends: 1. Energy transition, 2. Electrification of vehicles, 3. Sustainability and circularity.
The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes:
Intellectual curiosity – asking the right questions is probably just as important as developing the answers in these fast-moving market opportunities.
Results driven – as we continue to penetrate new market verticals such as automotive and utilities, the leader will need to align and engage stakeholders (internal and external) across many parts of the value chain.
Customer focus – have a strong network in the engineered material space and excel at conducting discovery conversations with senior clients.
Process and investment discipline – effectively manage the sales process and the associated investment pipeline keeping stakeholders (leadership, staff, customers) appropriately aligned and engaged.
Responsible for enhancing the sales strategy and execution across multiple lines of business.
Focus on identifying growth opportunities within Engineered Materials scope of product and service offerings.
Seek to advance sales standards and capabilities; further supporting Engineered Materials in maintaining its leadership position and industry relevance.
Continuously focus on increasing market share and net promoter score across the service portfolio.
Closely collaborate with Engineered Materials Leadership, Product Management, Principal Engineering, and Operations to identify opportunities for growth and operational efficiency.
Work closely with other Engineered Materials Sales leaders across the Industrial – TIC segment.
Champion an engaged, inclusive, and attractive work environment for UL Solutions employees with a winning culture.
Establish and maintain strong knowledge of customers and competition.
Maintain a continuous overview of market trends and developments.
Direct team on the overall enhancement and performance of existing Engineered Materials sales strategies and programs.
Develop and maintain a sales management playbook.
Ensure the right talent is in place to support the needs of the business
University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in related discipline; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
10 years or more of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency including 5 years or more of relevant management/leadership experience or demonstrated competency.
In-depth knowledge of Testing, Inspection, Certification market and industries within Engineered Materials.
Cross-functional expertise to architect and drive an integrated go-to-market plan.
Experience with complex customer interactions, products, and services.
Track record of building strong people/teams.
Global experience (culture, market, business practices, etc.).
Experience leading significant organizational changes.
Ability to work in a matrixed organization.
Innovative and strategic thinker.
Approachable and engaging; able to build a culture of trust, inspiration, drive, and growth.
Skilled at identifying both disruptive and sustaining innovations.
Able to establish and lead teams across global, matrixed, and cross-functional divisions.
Able to evaluate risk effectively and move forward quickly.
