What is the Role:
The Financial Crime team is the First Line of Defence against money laundering, fraud, and terrorist financing. Our purpose is to protect our customers and society from organised crime, terrorism, trafficking, and other criminal activities, through our commitment to the prevention and detection of financial crime.
Our primary focus is to support business areas in managing their financial crime risks and obligations in line with AIB Policy & Standards. We provide practical support and advice on financial crime related issues, directly to business areas and we are responsible for working with them to manage these risks throughout the customer lifecycle.
The Risk Management team is within Financial Crime Team, it provides risk oversight for the other teams of Financial Crime, assisting with the management and awareness of operational risk. This is a first line of defence function dedicated to supporting the Bank in meeting its current and evolving regulatory requirements.
Financial Crime (FC) is a Centre of Excellence for all financial crime activities and processes within the first line of defence. Our Purpose is to protect our Customers, Community and AIB Group through our excellence in the prevention and detection of Financial Crime. By centralising activities relating to AML, Sanctions and Fraud within one team of financial crime experts and undertaking a significant technology investment, AIB is enhancing its effectiveness in preventing financial crime and ensuring timely detection and response to financial crime events, as they occur.

Key Accountabilities;
-Working on your own initiative as part of a team to deliver effective risk management practices across all Financial Crime teams.
-Seek out ways to enhance processes and controls to mitigate risk by continuously challenging current processes and quality assurance standards.
-Perform risk assessments and other risk management tasks across all financial crime teams.
-Collaborate with colleagues across different business areas, build effect relationships and maintain independent oversight to manage FC risks across the bank.
-Reviewing and challenging the existing risk and control framework.
-Prepare and manage various local and group governance fora to give updates on FC activities across the unit and wider business.
-Effectively manage and develop a team of risk specialists to deliver on key strategic objectives.
Minimum Criteria;
-Minimum of 3-5 years banking/financial services experience desirable
-Proven ability to build stakeholder relationships.
-Strong communication (written and verbal) and have strong MS Word; Access; Excel skills. Ability to prepare and present complex information.
-Previous experience as a risk manager with expertise in AML, Fraud and Sanctions, operational risk, business support, quality assurance or compliance focused role preferable. Knowledge of Irish AML regulation/Directives and wider international standards/guidance in support of AML compliance, desirable.
-Experience in people leader skills to manage and develop talent.
