OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe Faculty and University of Manchester regard the development and implementation of an effective research strategy for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health as central and crucial to its continuing success. To this end the Faculty’s Research & Business Engagement (RBE) team brings together dedicated research service professionals to develop and promote opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary working, facilitate joined up research planning between Faculties, support the development of new research and business development opportunities, and maximise efficient use of resources.The Faculty’s RBE has three key agendas:

  • Research strategy co-ordination and implementation. This will include supporting the optimisation of Faculty research income and internationalisation activities.
  • Coordination of high quality technology and methodology platforms accessible to all staff.
  • Facilitating collaborative links and interactions, including cross cutting interactions within the Faculty, within UoM, external partners and ensuring the highest quality interactions with external funding agencies.

As part of this wider remit the Research Project Officer will work within the Research & Innovation Projects Team, across a mixed portfolio of projects, working in an agile and flexible manner across the Faculty, including a specific focus on the Faculty Fellowship Academy. These projects will be to support the priorities of the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation to achieve the Faculty’s research and innovation strategy.
