Our main activities are related to the development of new steel products, building up in-use guidelines to facilitate the introduction of these products to the customers and to give technical support to customers and plants.Automotive manufacturing is evolving, fast. As a research engineer in welding, you will gradually develop skills on thin steel sheets weldability to be able to support new products development. You will be directly involved in the projects linked to the development of New coatings and Advanced High Strength Steels for the automotive market. You will be assisted by research technicians who will report to you. You will take the responsibility of research projects and technical supports to customers, from the proposal of new projects to their accomplishment, including knowledge transfer. The job is located in Maizières-lès-Metz, with intense worldwide relationships with other ArcelorMittal R&D labs.Your profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree or a PhD in Mechanics and/or Material Science.
  • A professional experience in R&D and/or welding would bring value.
  • You have advanced levels of French and English.
  • You have team spirit and are a networker.
  • You are creative.
  • You are comfortable with written and oral communication.
  • Data science and digitalization knowledge can be a plus.

The center consist in 5 Research Groups : Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS), AUtomotive Products Properties (AUP), Metallurgy: Prospects & Manufacturing (MPM), PACKaging (PACK) and SURface & COAtings (SURCOAT) ; and one Metallography Service. Furthermore, experts in Metallurgy, Metallic coatings & Durability / corrosion / hydrogen embrittlement.
