Job description

The Liver, Metabolism and Infection (LiVMI) team at VHIR is looking for a competitive candidate for the upcoming Miguel Servet grant call (closing in March 2025 ). Depending on the candidate’s profile and current employment status, he/she might be hired in advance while preparing for the grant’s call. He/she will be involved in epidemiological studies of steatotic liver disease, including metabolic-dysfunction associated (MASLD) and combined with alcohol (MetALD), as well as infections related to liver disease, with a strong focus on social determinants of health and health inequalities.Education and qualifications:Required:

  • Degree in Health Sciences or MPH/equivalent
  • PhD in Epidemiology (Defense on 31 Dec 2020 at the latest, except if fulfilling any of the exceptions included in the call)
  • Fluency in English (business level)

Desired:

  • Experience in liver disease and/or metabolism
  • Experience as independent investigator
  • Fluency in Spanish and Catalan

Experience and knowledge:Required:

  • Proficiency in advanced statistical analyse
  • Publications and projects track record rendering him/her competitive for the call
  • At least 6 months of postdoctoral research stages

Desired:

  • International scope of his/her research activities
  • Experience with large databases

Main responsibilities and duties:

  • Lead the Epidemiology research line
  • Apply for grants
  • Mentoring PhD students
  • Write research proposals
  • Analise research data
  • Participate in research articles and communications to conferences

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time position: 40h/week.
  • Starting date: after the call resolution (late 2025), although could be earlier depending on the current job status of the candidate
  • Salary based on Miguel Servet stipend as established by the ISCIII call
  • Contract: Postdoctoral Researcher (3 +/- 2 years)
