Job description

Offer Description

  • Design and conduct advanced statistical analyses on large datasets derived from experimental studies and surveys in schools, as part of the PROFAN and PROFAN-Transfer projects.
  • Investigate the effectiveness of different pedagogical methods on students’ social and academic skills, as well as the impact of scientific training on teachers’ beliefs about their students’ abilities, highlighting interactions with gender stereotypes.
  • Contribute to the development of methodological and statistical frameworks to address the research questions of the projects, ensuring scientific rigor and robust results.
  • Advance theoretical and applied knowledge in educational psychology and social sciences, particularly in the fields of learning and gender stereotypes.
  • Publish findings in international scientific journals and present project advancements at conferences and seminars.
  • Collaborate closely with academic and institutional partners, including the LAPSCO team (Clermont Auvergne University) and other involved laboratories.
  • Mentor and support junior team members in advanced statistical approaches and research methodologies.
  • Participate in the dissemination and application of research findings, including actionable recommendations for educational policies and pedagogical training.
  • Design, implement, and oversee advanced statistical analyses on datasets derived from longitudinal studies and school-based surveys.
  • Apply and interpret complex analyses, including: longitudinal multilevel analyses, multigroup multilevel growth curve models, structural equation modeling, multiple regression, confirmatory factor analyses, and cluster analyses.
  • Develop methodological solutions tailored to handling missing data.
  • Produce detailed analytical reports, incorporating recommendations for research partners and implications for educational policies.
  • Communicate research findings at interdisciplinary meetings and international conferences.
  • Write scientific articles in English, in collaboration with involved teams, for publication in high-impact international journals.
  • Provide methodological mentoring to junior team members on advanced statistical analyses.
  • Actively contribute to the methodological and scientific reflection of the PROFAN and PROFAN-Transfer projects, including the development of new experimental designs and surveys.

PROFAN projects involve 10 académies, 110 lycées, 10,000 students and 7 research laboratories. The person recruited will interact with other partners, notably the LAPSCO PROFAN team (UMR CNRS 6024, Université Clermont Auvergne). The appointee will join the “Centre de Recherche en Psychologie et Neurosciences” (CRPN UMR AMU-CNRS 7077) in Marseille, a new center of excellence dedicated to the study of the brain and cognition. How does the brain generate mental activities? For example, how does it promote self-awareness, language and other advanced cognitive functions? Created on January 1 following the merger of two centers of excellence, one in cognitive psychology and the other in cognitive neuroscience, the brand-new “Centre de Recherche en Psychologie et Neurosciences” (CRPN) seeks to comprehensively address these crucial questions. By combining precise behavioral analyses, modeling and neurophysiological approaches from ontogenetic (birth to senescence) and phylogenetic (cross-species comparison) perspectives, in normal and pathological contexts, the CRPN consolidates all the essential tools – from the molecular level to social interactions – in a single place to unravel the complexities of mental functions, their behavioral manifestations and their biological underpinnings. With nearly 200 staff from a wide range of educational backgrounds, this interdisciplinary crossroads is poised to emerge as a leading national and global entity in the fields of behavior, brain and cognition.
