Research Staff – Predoctoral research position in Quantum Computing, DeustoTech, University of Deusto

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionGeneral call for Grants allocated to research projects or groups to pursue Doctoral Studies in Quantum-Inspired Techniques for Machine Learning and Optimization.Purpose of the positionQuantum computing is important for several reasons, as it represents a paradigm shift in the way we process information. Here are some key reasons why quantum computing is considered important: a) Parallelism: Classical computers process information using bits, which can exist in one of two states, 0 or 1. Quantum computers use quantum bits or qubits, which can exist in multiple states simultaneously (superposition). This allows quantum computers to perform parallel computations, potentially solving certain problems much faster than classical computers. b) Exponential Speedup: Quantum computers have the potential to provide exponential speedup for certain types of calculations. Algorithms designed for quantum computers could solve complex problems, such as factoring large numbers or searching large databases, exponentially faster than the best-known algorithms on classical computers. c) Solving Complex Problems: Quantum computers are particularly promising for solving complex problems in fields such as cryptography, optimization, material science, drug discovery, and artificial intelligence. d) New Approaches to Computing: Quantum computing introduces novel ways of thinking about and approaching computational problems. Quantum algorithms and quantum machine learning could open up new possibilities and insights, leading to advancements in various scientific and technological domains. While quantum computing is still in its early stages of development and faces significant technical challenges, its potential impact on various fields makes it an area of intense research and investment. As quantum computers continue to advance, they may revolutionize the way we solve problems and process information in the future. The hypothesis for this research is that it is possible to improve artificial intelligence and machine learning models using quantum computers compared to the use of classical computers, with special focus on the comparative analysis of parameters of quantum computing platforms among them and with respect to classical computation.Title of the project to be incorporatedQuantum Lab (DeustoTech) at the University of Deusto.PI and/or project managerPablo García Bringas.Endowment of the contract
