Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

We are looking for a Research Scientist to join the department of Medicinal Chemistry at Lundbeck in Copenhagen, Denmark. As an outstanding synthetic chemist with documented results, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our quest for new medicines to treat Central Nervous System (CNS) diseases.

Your new role – why is this a great opportunity?

As our new Research Scientist, you will be involved in all aspects of the medicinal chemistry value chain. Leveraging your expertise as a skilled Synthetic Organic Chemist, you will have an excellent opportunity to directly impact our drug discovery programs through enabling synthesis and ensuring continuous implementation of cutting-edge synthetic methodologies. Through dedicated enabling of synthetic routes and application of innovative compound design, you will have an important role in advancing our programs.

Your future team

You will be part of a collaborative team environment within Medicinal Chemistry
and the role will allow you to learn the trade of drug discovery. With the current role, we are looking to further strengthen and leverage our in-house synthetic and medicinal chemistry capabilities.
Medicinal Chemistry is a key component of the Research organization in Copenhagen, Denmark, where our goal is to discover new medicines for CNS diseases. The department of Medicinal Chemistry is fully integrated encompassing the hit identification, Hit to Lead, Lead Optimisation and Candidate Selection processes.

We are enthusiastic about what we do and have a vibrant and engaging atmosphere in our laboratories.

What you bring to the team

You hold a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry ideally supplemented by postdoctoral studies. Furthermore, you have demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and enabling multistep organic syntheses, and you thrive in a team environment of shared goals and responsibilities. In addition, you bring solid communication skills: ability to develop, implement, and clearly communicate chemistry strategies to team, management, and collaborators in English. Prior experience with small molecule drug discovery will be considered an advantage but is not a requirement.

Our promise to you

Lundbeck offers an inspiring workplace, passionate colleagues and a culture characterized as collaborative – a must to successfully bring our treatments through research and development all the way to commercialization and the people who need them. We offer a mix of exciting tasks and numerous development opportunities that are balanced with initiatives focused on your well-being.
