About usThe Department of Neuromuscular Diseases is a hub for clinical and research excellence across the spectrum of spinal cord and neuromuscular diseases. Our group of world-leading clinical, genetic, and basic science researchers focus their work on understanding the causes and biological mechanisms leading to neuromuscular disease and translating this knowledge into developing novel therapeutic solutions that is of direct benefit to neurological disorders such as motor neurone disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and neuromuscular disease.The Neural Circuits for Movement Laboratory (NCM) is a research group within the Department of Neuromuscular Diseases. The laboratory is integrated with that of Professor Marco Beato in the Department of Neuroscience, Physiology, and Pharmacology. The group is focused on investigating, using animal models, the physiology and pathophysiology of neural circuits controlling movement. A wide variety of quantitative techniques are used, including anatomical, physiological, and behavioural approaches.About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Research Laboratory Manager to join the NCM research lab. You will be the main point of contact for the NCM laboratory matters, responsible for organising the day-to-day running of the laboratory, effectively managing the purchase of consumables and animals to ensure that there is no interruption in research projects, and overseeing the lab’s equipment. Experience of working with laboratory rodents, knowledge of mouse genetics and colony management, and outstanding communication, problem-solving, and collaborative working skills are also essential for this role.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation.
