A position as Research Group Leader at the National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-DK), Department of Oncology, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev & Gentofte is open for appointment from as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as professor of Tumor Immune Microenvironment with special focus on the interplay between the extracellular matrix and immune cells at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the Research Group Leader position.The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen ( link])About the departmentThe National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-DK) is a research center aiming to bridge the gap between discovery and clinical implementation in the field of cancer immunotherapy. CCIT-DK has a focus on development of immunological treatment of cancer, and has a research profile based on equally weighted experimental and clinical projects with a tight interconnection. CCIT-DK has a total of around 100 employees. CCIT-DK is a part of the Department of Oncology, which has around 500 employees, 95 of whom are doctors.Clinical functions and focus areas of the departmentThe applicant must work at the National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-DK), Department of Oncology, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev & Gentofte, which focuses on cancer immunotherapy research. Emphasis will be placed on qualifications within management, communication, and the ability to collaborate both interdisciplinary and with cooperating departments. The applicant will head a research group with focus on pre-clinical research on the tumor immune microenvironment, and should engage in academic dissemination including scientific publications, acquisition of external research funding, and teaching of future scientists.Research and teachingWith the new position as Research Group Leader and Professor in Tumor Immune Microenvironment with special focus on the interplay between the extracellular matrix and immune cells, the Department of Oncology wishes to strengthen leadership in pre-clinical research and teaching.QualificationsThe vacant position is wanted to be filled by a broadly trained and experienced research group leader with documented experience within the field of pre-clinical tumor immune microenvironment research with special focus on the interplay between the extracellular matrix and immune cells. The applicant must also have experience with managing animal experiments and animal facilities.ConditionsIn order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the research group leader position) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.As professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for pre-clinical work in agreement with the head of department of oncology. The professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of Oncology.
