The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking a Research Funding Assistant to join our Research Funding team, providing key support in the delivery of the Small Research Grants, and working in collaboration with the Events team to deliver their annual Conferences scheme.ROLE PURPOSE / OVERVIEWThe Research Funding Assistant will provide administrative support to the portfolio of funding schemes with specific responsibility for the BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grants. This is a joint role, supporting the Events team with their annual schemes, in particular the British Academy Conferences Scheme.Some of the main duties of the assistant include, but are not limited to: advising applicants, award-holders, and assessors; coordinating Flexi-Grant; monitoring and reporting of award outcomes; producing statistics and summary reports; and the maintenance of effective information databases.OFFICE LOCATION: 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, St James Park, London, SW1Y 5AHKEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. To support the delivery of funding opportunities for the research community, with specific involvement in the Small Research Grants.Support the Research Funding Officers in managing the Academy’s Grant Management System, Flexi-Grant, to create the annual schemes and review applications made.Support administrative processes involved with moving applications through the appropriate eligibility, assessment and awarding stages.Respond to ongoing queries into the Grants inbox from applicants when schemes are open.Collate weekly reports for Change Requests submitted across schemes.Support on the production of Welcome Booklets for new award-holders.Prepare Letters of Offer and other communications for successful candidates.Collaborate with the Research Funding Officers to prepare paperwork for committee meetings.2. To work closely with senior team members to prepare for external funding presentations.Export data from the Flexi-Grant system and collate it into a report for team members to prepare for funding presentations.Research the institution and its application/award statistics and success rates.Support and engage with the presentation of information to institutions.3. Pre- and Post-Award Monitoring.Monitor and report on award outcomes, chasing submission of final reports by award-holders as necessary.Update the report trackers and maintain an up-to-date database of information.Collaborate with the Research Funding Officers to provide diversity statistics and summary reports for the end of financial year and committee meetings.Work closely with the Research Funding officers to track and consolidate refunds for the scheme.4. To support on Research Funding events.Support the Research Funding Officers in the organisation of Small Research Grants, such as: Induction Events, symposia, networking events and receptions.Coordinate internal arrangements for the organisation of award-holder events.Attend events and greet attendees, talk to award-holders, Fellows of the British Academy and other Academy staff members.Send out post-event surveys, collate travel expense claim forms from attendees.5.
