Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?We are looking for a Research Fellow (Social Care Research and Development) aligned with our world-leading research. The School of Healthcare is investing in its research capacity and capability, to work with world-leading researchers, furthering our aims of impactful applied health and care research of the highest quality, making a positive difference to society. The School of Healthcare leads Leeds’ contribution to the NIHR School for Social Care Research (Phase IV) and NICHE-Leeds (a partnership between science and care in the city). You will work closely with colleagues in our research teams in the School and will join our teams to deliver our ambitious social care research portfolio.Our portfolio focuses on questions that matter for social care and that will enhance quality of life and care for people accessing care, and/or quality of work for staff employed in the sector. Our areas of research include: technologies to enhance care and outcomes, quality and safety; the role of data and information in providing better care; supporting personal care (e.g. mouth care); social care workforce. Our methods range from working with big data; social network analysis; qualitative and mixed methods studies; and complex intervention development and evaluation. We don’t just “do research”; a key part of our work is developing capacity and skills and mobilising knowledge – working with the right people (people accessing social care, their families, care staff, providers, commissioners) to make a difference in practice and policy. We will expect you to be willing to work with our range of partners and be flexible in the approaches you use.Primarily focussing on research and research-led education, you will be a key member of our School. Working closely with academic colleagues, you will help lead and deliver existing research. Our work is shaping health and social care practice and policy and developing methodology and science in social care. You will have a key role in grant writing, ensuring we continue to lead research in this field through sustained income generation. You will develop and deliver research-led education linked to your expertise.With a postgraduate degree and ideally a PhD (or be near to submitting a PhD, or possess a Masters degree with equivalent research experience) in a subject area relating to applied health and care research, you will be able to demonstrate experience in a relevant care setting. Ideally, you will have experience of teaching or supervising students at undergraduate or postgraduate level.What we offer in return
