We are seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Physical Oceanography to become a member of the . As part of the ‘ : Unlocking Ground-Breaking Observations of Antarctic Mixing With Legacy Data’ project, you will take a Seismic Oceanography approach to analyse historical seismic and hydrographic data collected at three locations around East Antarctica. You will undertake research on the dynamics of ocean mixing around Antarctica and assess their effect on heat delivery to ice shelves.The successful applicant will work as part of a team examining the dynamical controls on ocean mixing as well as their spatial and temporal variation. Our team includes an active sea-going , with expertise in Seismic Oceanography, ocean mixing, remote sensing, and . We are strongly motivated by recent unexpected changes in Antarctic shelf waters and their impact on wider ocean circulation. So, we seek to use legacy data in new ways to overcome persistent knowledge gaps. By joining us, you will ultimately advance the field of oceanography by developing a globally-applicable observational tool and uncovering new knowledge about Antarctic ocean mixing.The post is a fixed-term appointment for 15 months funded by the UK’s Research + Invention Agency (ARIA).About YouWe invite applicants who hold a PhD or equivalent in geophysics, oceanography, or a related field, with strong experience in the analysis and processing of seismic reflection data.
