The British Library and the British Museum are close by, and other great museums and art galleries – from the Tate, Tate Modern and National Gallery to the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum – are within minutes by underground.About the roleWe are inviting applications for a Research Fellow with a strong background in siliceous microfossils and biogenic silica for a 2-year position funded by the NERC large grant NE/V018361/1 “Solving the Oligocene Icehouse Conundrum ( )”.is a large collaborative project, including a UK team made up of researchers at UCL, Southampton, St Andrews, and Bristol universities, covering expertise in microfossils, climate and ice sheet modelling, organic and inorganic geochemical proxies. The overall goal of TONIC is to document Oligocene climate and the carbon cycle, and to improve understanding of climate and ice sheet sensitivity in a warmer world. This is one of six research fellow positions for this project. The successful applicant will contribute to the overall success of TONIC.The main purpose of the job:
About youCandidates will have a PhD (or thesis submitted or close to submission, subject to examination) or the equivalent relevant experience in an appropriate discipline and established expertise and a proven portfolio of research in the identification of Cenozoic siliceous microfossils.
