It carries out research, undergraduate, and postgraduate teaching across all areas of theoretical and applied computer science.About the roleThe Multi-Sensory Devices (MSD) group at UCL is an interdisciplinary research group with a core interest in creating new forms of interactive multi-modal user experiences through the design and implementation of novel sensors and actuators. Duties for the Research Fellow would include:
- To develop precise, fast and stable acoustic levitation techniques to manipulate multiple objects (e.g., particles, fabric) in mid-air by using the combination of computational acoustic holography and computer graphics.
- To create interactive applications of multi-modal 3D displays using the levitation techniques developed.
About youThe position would be suitable for someone interested in using their computational skills for acoustic levitation to develop a new multi-modal 3D display, with experience in one or more of the following areas: 1. a) Computational holography (holographic displays, holographic imaging) 2. b) Acoustics (ultrasound modulation, levitation) 3. c) Computer graphics (displays, animation). d) Optimisation or machine learning. If you have any queries regarding the vacancy or the application process, please contact Dr Ryuji Hirayama at .
