We are seeking a proactive, engaging and organised Research Facilitator to work with leading scientists across the School of the Physical Sciences to support them in winning research funding, and to form part of a new Research Relations team across the Physical Sciences and Technology Schools.The School of the Physical Sciences has an overall research grant income of around £100M pa, with key funders having been UKRI (mainly EPSRC), industry and the ERC.Working as part of this new team, and building a network across the research staff in the Departments of the School, you will play a key role in identifying, articulating, and supporting opportunities for our leading investigators to develop successful funding proposals. We are particularly keen to strengthen our work on large and multi-disciplinary grant proposals.As well as work with our Principal Investigators, you will have a key role in the Office of the School of the Physical Sciences handling our work on internal selections for competitive grant applications, research ethics and, as relevant, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.The role holder should bring experience and understanding of the scientific research environment and have the ability to acquire knowledge of the funders’ requirements. This post would suit a creative individual who wants to develop a career in supporting the research endeavour. You will need excellent communications skills and, with excellent interpersonal skills, have the ability to have credibility with scientific leaders and to build productive working relationships with academic, research and professional services colleagues across the University and beyond.This is a role that might suit someone with a PhD in a relevant area who has already begun to do research support work, or who wants to move into the area.Your application should clearly set out how you meet the criteria listed in the person specification (the skills and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples.The role is a full time one, but we would be prepared to discuss, with a suitably qualified candidate whether there was scope for working at slightly less than full time or to work flexibly around childcare or other commitments.The University of Cambridge is committed to supporting our staff to thrive both professionally and personally.
