Job title Research Associate in Power Electronics for Electric Aircraft DC NetworkDepartment Electronic & Electrical EngineeringSalary Starting from £37,099, rising to £44,263Grade Grade 7Contract Type Full Time, Fixed TermPlaced on Thursday 22 August 2024Closing date Thursday 19 September 2024Interview date Tuesday 08 October 2024Reference FM12005Applicant Visa Guidance ShareResearch Associate in Power Electronics for Electric Aircraft DC NetworkAre you looking for a challenging opportunity in the electrification of aviation?We are seeking an exceptional Research Associate to work on power electronics for the electric aircraft DC network.A central member of our team, your primary objective will be to deliver a high-power density cryogenic DCDC power electronics converter and DC circuit breaker for hydrogen-powered electric aircraft.You will be expected to assist in the delivery of the project work packages, undertaking the research activity under the guidance of the principal investigator. You will focus on the design, control and testing of high-power cryogenic power electronics converters and DC circuit breakers.This position is offered on a full time, fixed term basis from 1st October 2024 with an expected duration of 18 months.About youOur ideal candidate will have:
- a PhD (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or relevant areas
- prior expertise in design and testing of high-power power electronics converter, electric motor drive, or DC circuit breaker
- knowledge of electromagnetic, thermal, PCB design and mechanical design
- strong communication skills
- ability to work collaboratively with the academic and industrial partners
