The roleA Research Associate is sought to perform cutting edge research into mechanisms underlying cardiac excitation-contraction coupling (ECC) and its regulation. The project aims to clarify how inositol trisphosphate and its upstream activators regulate ECC, with particular focus on local control. The project is funded for 5 years.What will you be doing?You will optimise, carry out and analyse experiments that involve whole-cell patch clamp, Ca2+ measurement and imaging, with opportunity for advanced analysis and computational modelling. You will also be expected to read and contextualise relevant literature, contribute to manuscript preparation and disseminate results at scientific meetings. General duties will also include contribution to laboratory maintenance, purchasing and contribution to an inclusive, supportive and communicative work environment.You should apply ifYou are passionate about biological research and have proven skills in critical thinking and problem-solving. Essential skills include whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology, with abilities to work independently and as a team particularly with regards to managing resources and communicating effectively. You will have received a PhD in a relevant subject or working towards one.
