Job description:
You work in the department ‘Advanced Electron Microscopy in Materials Research’ at the Institute of Nanotechnology of the KIT Karlsruhe in the field of high-end structural analysis. In close cooperation with various research groups in the field of chemistry, materials science and physics, you will sup-port battery related research using in-situ and ex-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron (SEM) / focused ion beam (FIB) microscopy.
As part of the Excellence Cluster POLiS ‘Energy Storage Beyond Lithium’ you will be focus on two main projects:
- correlative characterization of corrosion processes in Aluminum electrodes
- structure of hard carbons and their relation to sodium storage capabilities
Two state-of-the-art aber-ration corrected TEMs for atomic resolution imaging and spectroscopy, 4D-STEM, electron tomo-graphy and in-situ TEM studies as well as three FIB systems for SEM, EBSD and EDX analysis at RT and under cryo conditions are available as well as a NanoCT. In addition to your own research, you will supervise a doctoral student and work with other postdocs in the department to jointly implement and improve advanced microscopic methods.
