Within UCL, we are based at the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences (PALS), which has ranked 2nd worldwide for Psychology in the latest Times Higher Education rankings by subject.About the role The post holder will assist with all aspects of conducting high quality research combining novel behavioural and brain stimulation experiments on human participants with computational modeling and behavioural analysis of decision-making data (recruitment, data collection, data analysis and visualisation, acoustic simulations and planning). The post comprises designing and conducting research into human ultrasound neuromodulation that is of an international standard, and that is carried out expertly and rigorously. You will use MRI and ultrasound neurostimulation techniques and will need to show some independence in conducting your work.
This position does not meet the eligibility requirement for a sponsored visa. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require the right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
The position is available for 12 months in the first instance and is offered at a salary of
£37,332 (inclusive of LA). For information about the application process please contact pals.hr@ucl.ac.uk.About you Applicants must hold a First class honours degree and/or Masters in experimental psychology, neuroscience, engineering or computer science. Prior experience in the use of brain stimulation techniques such as TMS or transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) is desirable, and a willingness to learn advanced brain stimulation skills using TUS is essential. We are seeking applicants with proficiency and prior experience with programming and data analysis in MATLAB, with an aptitude for developing technical skills in other programming languages, particularly those necessary in the design and execution of ultrasound work (brainsight, k-wave) as required. A strong interest in the theoretical and empirical underpinnings of decisions science and social cognition is required.
