Offer DescriptionThe Post-doc will be involved in a nuclear physics experiment at HIL UW using heavy ion beams as partof the project SONATA BIS 13 project no. 2023/50/E/ST2/00621, entitled: “Search for high-ranksymmetries in medium-mass to super-heavy nuclei using high-resolution in-beam gammaspectroscopy at HIL UW”. The project led by IFJ PAN Kraków is carried out in collaboration with HIL UWwhere the employed person will be employed. The start date will be agreed with the selectedcandidate but must be no later than 30/06/2025. The applicant should have experience in the setupand use of various nuclear radiation detectors in beam experiments, in particular gamma rays (multi-detector HPGe spectrometers), particles, and ions (semiconductor and scintillation detectors). A strongbackground in programming data acquisition systems, specifically using the CERN/ROOT framework, isessential. Familiarity with nuclear spectroscopy data analysis software, such as RADWARE, is alsorequired. Manual skills will be helpful for the work of installing the detector system in heavy ion beams.The person hired must be fluent in spoken and written English.Specific RequirementsBasic duties:

  • Installation of the Recoil Filter Detector (RFD) at the gamma-EAGLE spectrometer on the ion beam

at HIL UW

  • Setting up a common digital data acquisition system for the EAGLE+RFD+DIAMANT detector system
  • Performing off-line analysis of RFD tests
  • Conducting research in the field of low-energy nuclear physics using the EAGLE+RFD+DIAMANT

  • The project leader was not their PhD supervisor or co-supervisor,
  • During the period of receiving this salary, they will not receive another salary from funds awarded

as part of the direct costs of research projects funded by NCN competitions,

  • During the period of receiving this salary, they will not receive a salary from another employer

based on an employment contract, including employers outside Poland,

  • During the period of receiving this salary, they will not receive retirement benefits from the social
