Research Assistant in Immunology

We invite applications from talented, ambitious, and highly motivated scientists to support a project investigating Adrenergic regulation of immunosenescence and cognitive decline across the life course. You will join a multidisciplinary team of immunologist and neuroscientist and use the latest technologies to assess the relationship between sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity, inflammation, immune function, and cognitive function in a cross-sectional human study.You will work with group members in the Immunology Section and Surrey Sleep Research Centre, both within the School of Bioscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. With the use of state-of-the-art facilities, you will perform in-depth characterisation of systemic inflammation and the immune response to different immunological and adrenergic challenges and will determine how this relates to cognitive function and SNS activity.Key responsibilities include:
We are looking for applicants with a BSc in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) as well as experience in cellular techniques. Specifically, you should have experience or knowledge of cell/tissue culture, flow-cytometry and immunoassays.You will be able to work positively and flexibly with colleagues and will have excellent communication skills. You will be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.The successful candidate will receive training in immunological and cellular techniques, data analysis and presentation, and in conducting human studies.
