About us The Centre for Amyloidosis (CfA) together with the associated UK NHS National Amyloidosis Centre (NAC), conducts world-leading multidisciplinary research into systemic amyloidosis. Together, the CfA and NAC have been instrumental in all major advances in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic amyloidosis (for examples, see https://tinyurl.com/CfA-selected).About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to contribute to a research programme to understand the natural history of ATTR cardiomyopathy in our new preclinical model of the disease (https://tinyurl.com/ATTR-CM-model), and to ready the model for evaluation of candidate disease-modifying drug treatments. You will assist with management of the colony and experimental groups, including planning of experiments. You will contribute to sample collection and processing, and perform experiments using biochemical assays and histological techniques. The role is available immediately, funded by Alnylam Pharmaceuticals for one year in the first instance, with extension for 3 years planned. ([email protected]).About you You will have a PhD or experience to PhD level in genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related area. A track record of in vivo and laboratory research are highly desirable. Holding a current Home Office personal licence will be a distinct advantage. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation.
