Job Title: Research and Learning Officer – HC619609Location: SHQ Eastleigh, Hybrid and other locations upon requestSalary: SO1 – £35,526 – £37,692 per annumHours: 37 hours per weekClosing Date: Sunday 12th January 2025 at 23:59 hoursAbout the RoleYour role will be to support the force with delivery of continuous improvement, operational learning and innovation alongside the implementation of evidence based policing through academic research working with academic and policing partners.Key Accountabilities will be and not limited to;1. To manage the identification of force research requirements and the research commissioning process in order to land completed research into force and establish clear terms of reference in conjunction with each Force Sponsor for all commissioned research.2. To maintain working frameworks and engagement channels for the successful undertaking and implementation of research, through effective communication and engagement with the College of Policing; other policing organisations; partners and academic institutions.3. To provide advice and guidance on best research practice; the appropriateness of research topics and their links with completed and ongoing research locally and nationally.4. To work proactively with force colleagues including internal researchers, analysts to develop and implement effective evaluation processes and to ensure that research contributes to Evidence Based Policing activity in support of policing priorities.5. To schedule, prepare for and contribute to a range of related meetings and to provide professional reports and presentations to senior leaders as required and to represent the department/organisation at meetings with other forces and agencies.6. To proactively co-ordinate, collate and track operational learning from a range of sources and inspection mechanisms across the force.For more information about the role pleaseEssential QualificationsEducated to QCF Level 6 or equivalent qualification OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.Essential ExperienceExperience of working in a research and learning environment. Ability to create and deliver written and verbal reports and presentations to senior management and other key stakeholders.Ability to manage and implement short and long term initiatives.Knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methodologies and analytical techniques, to include surveys, systematic reviews, and focus groups.
